Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment across our facilities. This role requires hands-on experience with a variety of floor care procedures, including stripping and waxing hard floors, machine scrubbing, and carpet cleaning.

Schedule: 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm
Key Responsibilities:

Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces.

Operate floor care equipment including auto scrubbers, buffers, and burnishers for hard floor maintenance.

Strip and wax tile floors using industry-standard techniques and chemicals.

Conduct deep cleaning and periodic scrubbing of hard floor surfaces to ensure a polished, professional appearance.

Perform carpet cleaning as scheduled or required.

Maintain cleanliness in restrooms, break areas, offices, lobbies, and common areas.

Monitor cleaning supplies and equipment, reporting any maintenance issues or shortages.

Follow all safety procedures and guidelines for chemical handling and equipment operation.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in commercial floor care, including stripping, waxing, and carpet cleaning, is strongly preferred.

Familiarity with commercial cleaning equipment and products.

Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.

Attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.

Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks for extended periods.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training and Experience: High school diploma or GED preferred supplemented by six (6) months of experience performing custodial tasks, preferably in a commercial or similar environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Licenses and/or Certifications: Requires a valid driver license.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of hand held and electrical equipment and tools including vacuum cleaners, strippers, waxers, etc. Must be able to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push and pull or otherwise move objects. Tasks include considerable bending, stooping, climbing, etc., and working in confined spaces. Requires full range of body motion in manipulation of limbs and torso. Required to work from ladders and personnel-lifts for extended periods of time to complete certain tasks (i.e., cleaning windows and vents; changing light bulbs, etc.). Requires standing and walking for prolonged periods of time. Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work.

Language Ability: Requires the ability to communicate effectively in English, including the ability to convey, record and exchange information; requires the ability to explain procedures and to give, receive and follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to read and comprehend Standard English, rendered in formats such as cleaning agent instructions, warning labels, equipment operation directions, order forms and other materials related to the job. Must be able to communicate effectively in Standard English and to convey information to others.

Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply principles of common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions; to deal with problems involving concrete variables in or from standardized situations; to perform manual labor and machine operations; to make independent judgments in the absence of supervisor; to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation.

Numerical Aptitude: Must be able to add and subtract totals. May require the ability to multiply and divide.

Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to tactfully and effectively interact with the public, co-workers and supervisors.
