Position Overview
We are seeking a Snowflake Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of a modern, cloud-based data platform.
This individual will be responsible for building a scalable “single source of truth”—ensuring data is accessible, reliable, and structured to support real-time reporting, cross-functional insights, and long-term analytics strategy.
This is not just a hands-on engineering role. This is a strategic architecture position requiring both technical depth and the ability to align data solutions with business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Data Architecture & Platform Design
- Design and implement enterprise-level data architecture within Snowflake
- Build scalable, high-performance environments using virtual warehouses and multi-cluster configurations
- Define standards for data structure, storage, and access across the organization
Data Modeling & Structure
- Develop and maintain data models including:
- Star Schema
- Snowflake Schema
- Data Vault (as applicable)
- Ensure data is structured for performance, usability, and long-term scalability
Pipeline & Integration Design
- Architect and oversee ETL/ELT pipelines using:
- Snowpipe, Streams, and Tasks
- Integration tools such as dbt, Fivetran, Airbyte, or AWS services
- Ensure reliable and efficient data ingestion from multiple sources
Cloud & Data Ecosystem Integration
- Partner with engineering teams to integrate Snowflake with AWS services including:
- Glue, Kinesis, RDS, and SageMaker
- Support a cohesive, cloud-native data environment
Data Governance & Security
- Implement and enforce:
- Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
- Data masking and row-level security
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational standards (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR where applicable)
Performance Optimization
- Monitor and optimize query performance and system efficiency
- Manage cost controls related to Snowflake usage (compute/storage)
- Leverage advanced Snowflake capabilities such as:
- Time Travel
- Zero-copy cloning
- Data sharing
Data Governance & Standards
- Establish and enforce data governance frameworks including:
- Data lineage
- Data quality standards
- Data stewardship practices
- Partner with business and IT stakeholders to ensure alignment and adoption
Required Qualifications
Experience
- 14+ years of overall IT experience
- 5+ years in Data Architecture roles
- 3+ years hands-on experience designing and implementing Snowflake environments
Technical Expertise
- Deep expertise in Snowflake architecture and optimization
- Strong experience with AWS data services (Glue, Kinesis, RDS, SageMaker)
- Advanced SQL skills and strong understanding of data engineering best practices
- Experience with modern data tools and frameworks such as:
- Databricks
- dbt / Fivetran / Airbyte
- BI tools (Power BI, Tableau)
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala
Architecture & Governance
- Experience designing enterprise data platforms and governance frameworks
- Strong understanding of data security, compliance, and integration patterns
Soft Skills
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Proven ability to influence decisions across teams without direct authority
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Certifications (Required/Preferred)
- Snowflake Certification (Core and/or Advanced Architect) – Required
- AWS Data Engineering Certification – Required
- AWS Solutions Architect (Professional) – Preferred
- Databricks Certification – Nice to have
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
