POSITION SUMMARY
A & Associates is seeking dependable and hardworking Sorters to support operations at a busy recycling and materials-processing facility.
The Sorter is responsible for inspecting, separating, and properly sorting materials moving along a conveyor line. This position requires consistent attendance, attention to detail, the ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment, and willingness to perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift.
Successful candidates must be punctual, reliable, able to follow instructions, and comfortable working in an outdoor industrial environment.
Steel-toed boots are required for this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Inspect materials moving along the conveyor line.
Sort materials according to type, size, condition, color, paper grade, or other established classifications.
Remove contaminants and unacceptable materials from the conveyor line or surrounding floor areas.
Place sorted materials into designated containers, piles, or collection areas.
Stack boxes, pallets, and skids as required.
Empty boxes, totes, or containers containing recyclable or processed materials.
Feed materials, including wastepaper and other designated items, onto the conveyor system.
Clean conveyor equipment and surrounding sorting areas.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift.
Monitor equipment operation and report unusual conditions or malfunctions.
Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) when operating around equipment and machinery.
Immediately report safety concerns, equipment issues, or hazardous conditions to the appropriate supervisor.
Follow all company and site safety procedures.
Attend required safety and operational meetings.
Work cooperatively with supervisors and other team members to maintain efficient production.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Previous warehouse, recycling, sorting, manufacturing, production, or general labor experience preferred.
At least three (3) months of related experience or training preferred.
High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to identify and separate different types of materials accurately.
Ability to work safely around conveyor systems and industrial equipment.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, production-focused environment.
Reliable attendance and punctuality are required.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Must successfully complete any required pre-employment screening.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must be able to:
Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
Perform repetitive hand, arm, and finger movements.
Bend, reach, stoop, twist, and perform repetitive sorting motions.
Regularly handle, lift, push, pull, or move objects weighing up to approximately 30 pounds.
Work around moving conveyor systems and industrial equipment.
Maintain sufficient coordination and dexterity to perform sorting and material-handling duties safely.
Perform physical work for extended periods while maintaining productivity and attention to safety.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is performed primarily in an outdoor or industrial work environment.
Employees may be regularly exposed to:
Dirt and dust.
Noise.
Odors.

Moving machinery and conveyor systems.
Materials associated with recycling and waste-processing operations.
Employees must follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
Steel-toed boots are required. Additional personal protective equipment may be provided or required based on the worksite.

Consistent attendance is an essential requirement of this position.
Employees are expected to:
Report to work on time and prepared to begin their assigned shift.
Maintain regular and dependable attendance.
Follow established call-out and attendance procedures.
Remain available for the full scheduled shift unless otherwise approved.
